Yes and No

Well, I got an email tonight confirming that I'm on the 2010 Rwanda team for Biola's nursing department! I handed my reference to the clinical instructor I had recently and was slightly nervous. She'd mentioned I was one of the "quieter ones" and I wasn't quite sure how to receive it. When I handed her the form today, she got excited and gave me a huge hug, telling me that she'd told another faculty member I was one of her favorites and one of the most well-rounded students she'd worked with recently. It was a huge compliment given how much I respect her as both a nurse and as an educator.

Other news - I still don't have a preceptorship for my last rotation. I didn't get Pediatrics, I didn't get Oncology, and just now, received an email saying that my NICU spot is up in the air and I don't have one there, either. After hearing that given the economic times recently, your preceptorship is largely your "in" to a floor - it's frustrating that the interests I have are in no way related to where I may end up in the hospital. I want to work with kids so badly.

At this point, part of me is relieved that the "not knowing" is over regarding the one NICU spot - but it's still tough knowing that every spot I've wanted has gone to someone else in our program. Somehow I need to have my heart and head reconciled with the fact that I know something better and perfect is out there for me, yet deal with the disappointment that I'm not placed when I start in a week.

Anyway, I'm gonna go finish a support letter! Mailing them tomorrow! =)
