Saturday afternoons...

I am done with one rotation! Our 4 weeks at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood were officially over as of Thursday. We worked at 10 hour shift ( 7 AM - 5:15 PM), which wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be. I was back on the 6th floor (telemetry) and had 3 patients (eek!) with 2 different nurses, so it was a little hectic. All 3 patient's were really interesting and I would have honestly liked to have had them for a second day, but that's life in nursing school. I'm looking forward to the future where I'll have more than one or two days with a patient if they are at the hospital for a while. It seems like it would be (at least a little) easier having a history with patients.
I finally crashed at the end of the day Thursday about midnight. I got home from the hospital/dinner at 8:00, changed, and then went straight to our game at 8:30. We lost last week (but it was really close, we went point for point and lost the 3rd game by 2). This week, however, was probably the fastest game in the history of games. No one seemed that enthusiastic to be there and it was if we all gave up hope early. I hope that next week practice goes better and we at least look a little alive at our game. My competitive side will get to me otherwise. =)
Classes are going well, though. It's busy with a test Monday morning, quiz in the afternoon, and then orientation for our new rotation on Wednesday. I will now be in the Older Adult rotation. We'll participate in a Homeless Clinic every week in Santa Ana and then I think there's some home health nursing that we will also be doing. I'm not sure of our Wed-Fri schedule at all yet, but none of the other 9 students in our rotation have any clue either, so I feel better.
Life otherwise is good, not too many exciting things going on lately. I applied for a job in the admissions department and had an interview on Tuesday. She said that she had over 50 applications and interviewed the top 14 with the intention of hiring 3, so I at least made it that far! I didn't get the job, which was probably the biggest bummer last week. I'm looking every day but there isn't much, unfortunately. I'm considering an off campus job at a coffee shop or Old Navy even at this point. We'll see how it goes, yes?
Anyway, off to read and study some more. Love you all and miss you!
